Grape

Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

Origin
Situated in a gravel estuary in the hamlet of By in the Médoc, Château Greysac produces elegant, seductive clarets at excellent prices. The Cru Bourgeois classification represent the only classification of the Médoc since the famous 1855.
Taste
Aromas of classic cassic, black cherry, plum, vanilla and spice. A medium body consisting of ripe currants, tobacco and juicy plums, fine tannins, elegantly balanced fruits, and a lingering finish.
Enjoy
A young claret that, despite a long future ahead of it, can be drunk now with steak, beef Wellington, filet mignons or gamebirds.

Sound basic claret at a sensible price (£10)

Takes a little while to open up, but then exhibits a classic medoc nose with decent length & integrated tannins; plenty of fruit and fair structure with good mouth feel. Most enjoyable; beats the pants of some young, over-alcoholic and earthy offerings from Chile, Argentina etc. Stands up very well for a wine at this price point - even though Hugh Johnson's 2013 book doesn't even recognise the 2007.

    Balls

I have to say that what the previous reviewer posted is complete and utter rubbish. For what it is, a drinking wine, it is fabulous - tannic, warm, perhaps fuller bodied than advertised, drinkable without pretension - a wine that doesn't leave you short changed which frankly many wines do in this price range. We can all pine (and appreciate) the more refined names but to drink in at home in good company over something happy - let's agree Greysac fits the bill. I'm sure the Claridges wine list may offer more agreeable offerings for "Biibizdoc" at Christmas :-)

    oh dear

Not often that Majestic drop a clanger but this Ch. Greysac is one of those. Dull, overly tannic and somewhat lacking in fruit. Expensive Coq au vin coming up! Back to the drawing board for Christmas :-(

Still young, but bags of potential

This Cab Sauv. dominated Medoc, one of the less fashionable areas of Bordeaux, is still slightly acidic and tight on the palette and in my opinion needs at least another year in the bottle for it to become easy drinking. However, pair this with a couple of good, strong cheeses and your guests will be hugely impressed with your wine picking skills as this wine transformed into a completely different proposition for me when drunk with cheese. Bags of value here (from a less fashionable region, and vintage), and if you can lay it down has a good few years in it yet.

    Nice Nose then Dies

Lovely blackcurrant and nutty nose so was really looking forward to tasting. Very disappointed. No body here, a real aqua red and immediately forgettable. Poor value for money.
