A deep and intense appearance in the glass; the nose is enticing, offering characters of ripe berry with herb nuances as well as toasted oak. The palate exudes finesse, ripe dark fruit of blackcurrant and plum, precise flavours and fine tannins. This has to be the best Réserve de la Comtesse we have tasted (at Lay & Wheeler).

The palate is elegant and refined with vibrant berryfruit to the fore. Distinctive and not as heady as some, this has taken on a bit more weight since bottling.
