A straightforward, fruit-focused claret, full of succulent berry flavours delivered upon a soft and supple palate.
This special parcel was snapped up by our buyers upon first taste. A traditionally-made Bordeaux from the top-rated 2005 vintage.
Solid tannins with generous raspberry fruit and a noticeable herbal quality result in a complex yet delicious wine.
A deep and intense appearance in the glass; the nose is enticing, offering characters of ripe berry with herb nuances as well as toasted oak. The palate exudes finesse, ripe dark fruit of blackcurrant and plum, precise flavours and fine tannins. This has to be the best Réserve de la Comtesse we have tasted (at Lay & Wheeler).
Price £55.00
This wine is ripe and rich, with excellent concentration of pure black fruits. It has ripe tannins wirth a savoury finish.

"...Powerful, rich, and full, but less tannic than the 2005 and more opulent, this is a dazzling Branaire to drink between 2017-2035". 96 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Dense ruby/purple, with sweet blackberry and black currant fruit with hints of smoke, espresso roast, and new saddle leather, this is another impressively endowed but tannic, backward style of wine. 91 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.
Price £70.00
There is a serious volume of wonderfully ripe fruit yet with a precision peculiar only to great wines. Very fine indeed and an undoubted star of the vintage.
"...A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot, it is unquestionably outstanding, but to my taste, slightly less opulent than the estate’s ethereal 2003…" Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Price £100.00
The palate is elegant and refined with vibrant berryfruit to the fore. Distinctive and not as heady as some, this has taken on a bit more weight since bottling.
Price £125.00
"...The wine is fully mature and soft, with beautiful concentration and purity…" 92 points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Price £130.00
"…Subtle but substantial, layered, and textured, with medium body as well as up-front flavors, low acidity, and ripe tannin…" Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
