Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 'La Maltroie' 2009 Fontaine Gagnard

Aromas of pears mingle with the rounder flavours of buttered toast and vanilla on the rich, fat palate. The finish is superb.

Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos St Jean 2008 Fontaine-Gagnard

Another superb effort from Chassagne-Montrachet specialist Richard Fontaine. Clos St Jean lies toward the northern end of the appellation close to St Aubin, and borders a limestone quarry; evidence of the region's limestone-rich soil. The wine has notable minerality and focus, with intriguing smoky notes on the nose.

Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Boudriottes 2008 Fontaine-Gagnard

Excellent Chassagne-Montrachet from this low-lying 1er Cru vineyard, made by Richard Fontaine. Superbly rounded yet firmly structured, and with an expressive personality. Ideal for drinking immediately, or over the next 2-3 years.

Château Climens 1983 1er Cru Classé, Barsac

The 1983 has consistently improved since bottling and is a far greater wine than I ever imagined after tasting it from cask. It exhibits the classic honeyed pineapple and spicy oakiness that makes Climens so profound. In the mouth, this wine is opulent, extremely rich, with gobs of glycerin, yet enough acidity to give it plenty of definition and crispness. 92 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.

Château d'Arche 2001 Sauternes

Made in a big, up-front, forward style, with loads of glycerin and fat, the 2001 d’Arche reveals elegant aromas of honeysuckle, orange marmalade, honeyed lemon, and a hint of coconut as well as good acidity, medium to full body and obvious botrytis. 90 points. Château de Cléray Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie 2011 Sauvion

Steely and focused, this shows its class from the very first aromas of well defined citrus and stone fruit, flowing seamlessly into notes of wet stone. Dry and incisive on the palate, with great length. A must with haddock, crusted sardines and other fresh classic fish dishes.

Château de Fargues 2005 Sauternes

A really good Sauternes with a rich and intriguing nose of grapefruit, thyme and honey. The finish is lovely - very long, like orange blossom honey.

Château de Mercey Hautes Côtes de Beaune Chardonnay 2005 Domaine Rodet

We've managed to secure this great value parcel. Fresh and full of minerality with exotic flavours on the palate the finish is warm and rounded. Already delicious, this wine is capable of further aging for 2 to 3 years.

This is a really interesting wine, in the good sense! It is rich and mellow with a very long, indulgent finish.

Château Rieussec 2003 Sauternes, 1er Cru Classé

Now bottled they are gorgeous, rich wines and will drink well early. Generally just behind Yquem in quality Rieussec is a very fine wine indeed.
