Origin
Two Hands was established in 1999, with a view toward showcasing the best Shiraz that Australia, and particularly Barossa, could offer. This blockbusting example comes from vineyards in the slightly cooler coastal climes of McLaren Vale. Aromatically rich and complex, with notes of coffee, cocoa and cola against a backdrop of mulberry and plum fruit. Immense and mouth-coating, with lashings of soft, rounded tannins.

    Incredible Shiraz

Very special Shiraz. My first impressions on the nose were chocolate/mocha and deep black fruit. On the palate all that fruit again, with some subtle spice and vanilla. A long finish to be savoured. Fair value at £22, worth every penny at £18.

    Bruising Aussie Shiraz

This is a brash Shiraz. I decanted it well over an hour before drinking. Teeth-stainingly purple, it has a scent of plums and candy on the nose. It's very fruity - I imagine a little over-extracted for some tastes as this is definitely approaching fruit bomb territory - with no overt signs of oak (I'm not sure if it's seen any), very smooth tannins and a long finish. It will pair tremendously with cheeseburgers and barbecued meats in the summer months. But in my opinion it's meant to be drunk young, and I don't feel extended cellaring would be of benefit.

  • Black fruit flavours with notes of rosemary and mint (2010 Vintage)

"Behind the self-evident spice, toasty oak and powerful alcohol, there’s an attractive veneer of garrigue-like herb infusing the black fruit flavours with notes of rosemary and mint, while the saving grace of cleansing acidity brings balance to the smoothness of texture. Rating: 89/100 (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com, August 2012)"
