Grape

Sauvignon Blanc

Origin
A superb value Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand's winemaking heartland. Grapes are sourced from a number of partner growers throughout Marlborough, and undergo a short, cool fermentation period for maximum expressiveness of fruit.
Taste
Typical of Marlborough Sauvignon, the bouquet springs from the glass, offering plumes of citrus, green grass and elderflower. The palate is a burst of crisp grapefruit and gooseberry flavours.
Enjoy
Drink with dressed salads, seafood or light risottos.

    Very poor

I disliked this wine after the very first taste. It is as though it had spent a full year in an old oak barrel. Huge excess of tannins. It has to be a mix of several varieties. In my opinion it should be thrown away.

    Oh dear.....

...and to think I could have had Wither Hills for the same price. UK-bottled, thin, acidic, and going back. Majestic are usually terrific, but this is the sort of wine that Tesco revel in offering for 'half price'. Definitely one to avoid.

    NO STARS from me

Actually NO Stars - but the Majestic rating system just fails on this, so I had to click a very undeserved star to get past go..... I found this tasted of "sulphur" - probably cheap finings! DON'T TOUCH IT... I wouldn't even use it as a paint thinner! So where is the good ol' Southbank SB these days?

    Very Poor

There are mixed reviews for this wine but clearly the negative ones are more numerous. The bottom line is that there are a few much better alternatives at the same or similar price point - Fairleigh Estate, Fairhall Cliffs to name but two plus Wither Hills and Composite when on offer. This wine has an unpleasant bouquet and is very thin, sharp and acidic in the mouth. The so called 'snobs' who have panned this wine are not suggesting you pay double for the same wine rather that you pay a similar amount for much better fare.

    Grim

Don't even use this in cooking. If you want a cheap SVB go for the Wither Hills. This is a dog

  • Another NZ cracker at an unbeatable price!

"This wine brings fresh apple, citrus and cut grass aromas on the nose, followed up by fresh acidity, asparagus and gooseberry characteristics on the nose. Great everyday wine for what's left of our summer!"
