Grape

Pinot Noir

Origin
Grown in Nelson, to the west of Marlborough, on stony loam soils with high sunshine hours and a moderating Maritime influence. The winemaking philosophy blends Old World techniques with pioneering methods now becoming commonplace in the New World.
Taste
An elegant nose of black cherry, rose petal, cranberry and subtle oak with hints of spice. A medium bodied wine with luscious dark cherry, blossom fruits, silky soft tannins, and a generous mouthfeel.
Enjoy
An excellent partner to red meat and game dishes or mushroom flavoured sauces. A wine to be enjoyed over the next four years.

    Delightful

Fabulous pinot noir with a shed load of fruit. Very much new world style and a million miles from classic burgundy! Something that New Zealand South Island does so well. I enjoyed it with Peach & Palma ham salad and with pasta & salami combination. Will now order a case.

    Excellent value for money

I am very pleased with this Pinot Noir, it is typical of the better New Zealand Pinots. It has an excdellent bouquet and a restrained pinot flavour with a delicate fruity aftertaste. I am surprised at comments about it being ‘jammy’ but I do enjoy readubg the different impressions of a wine. I guess it reflects differences in what we look for in a wine. For my money this wine ticks all the right boxes.

Nice new world fruit but with Burgundian smoke and complexity

if you like Oregon style Pinot noir but don't want the 30 quid a bottle price , try this excellent kiwi

    Jam on toast

Spot on SVR - at last someone that actually tastes the wines and has tasted enough other wines to make sense of it. Jammy, too sweet, confected.

    Ripe, rich and great value!

With classic aromas of dark cherry, spice, dried herbs and smoky oak with quite a long finish, I thought this Kiwi Pinot was great value. Obviously made from good ripe fruit, it was a particularly good match with my home made steak and kidney pie! I'm going to keep an eye out for more Nelson wines now.

    NZ pinot gone wrong

NZ has some world class examples of Pinot Noir from Central Otago (Felton Road), Martinborough (Matinborough Vinyard) but this is overly jammy and sweet. Could barely finish the bottle.
