The World of Wine

We are very lucky that the wine market in the UK is more vibrant, diverse and broad-minded than almost anywhere else in the world. Since we make very little wine ourselves, and have historical tradition of global trading, we have none of the the domestic, or even local focus that exists in most of the wine-producing countries of the world.

In recent decades this outlook has led to Britain (thanks to innovative wine merchants such as Majestic!) leading the way in recognising the wines of the 'New World' and now wine is truly a global phenomenon.

Here we present our guide to the world's major wine regions - this isn't intended to be exhaustive or even particularly scholarly, but should give a useful bit of background to the wines we sell... and that you drink!
