At Majestic we pride ourselves on our great range of wines, knowledgeable staff and fantastic customer service, and in 2011 we have been recognised with major awards in the two largest wine competitions, the International Wine Challenge and the Decanter World Wine Awards. Don't forget to check out our Medal Winning Wines!
International Wine Challenge
The International Wine Challenge is the world's largest wine competition, where thousands of wines from all over the world are judged, as well as those selling them. We were delighted to be named as High Street Chain of the year for the fourth year running.
"Even though there is not significant competition in their sector, Majestic continue to do an outstanding job. Building on their successful move to 6 bottles, they have advanced significantly through their Lay and Wheeler acquisition, as well as their commercial section. Majestic have witnessed notable success online also."The IWC Judges, October 2011
Decanter World Wine Awards
Sold in over 90 countries, Decanter Magazine is a world authority on wine, and they have named us Decanter Readers' Awards Best Large Wine Merchant Winner for the fourth year running. This award was voted for by Decanter subscribers. Here's what this prestigious wine magazine had to say:
"When you have won this award four times in a row, you know it’s no fluke. Decanter readers have again heaped praise on the diversity of Majestic’s range, it’s great value and the expertise of staff. The merchant is the UK’s largest wine warehouse chain – each of the 160 stores in England, Scotland and Wales carries more than 800 wines for sale – and holds themed tastings throughout the year as well as offering regularly changing samples on its tasting counters.
One of Majestic’s enduring strengths, its commitment to staff training, was highlighted by more than one respondent, who commended the retailer for its ‘quality service', 'knowledgeable staff', and ‘friendly atmosphere’. One reader enthused: ‘Staff are always happy to help you discover new wines but also to let you browse at your leisure’. Another added: ‘The young generation know their wines!’
Majestic also claimed votes for changing the minimum spend at stores from 12 bottles to six, making ‘popping in easier and more frequent’. Readers loved the range of wines available, from everyday drink to cru classés, as well as the regular tastings and region-focused deals, which ‘encourage customers to try something new at an appealing price’.
Finally, respondents praised the ‘easy parking’ at stores and ‘superb home delivery service’, agreeing that ‘every neighbourhood should have a retailer of this quality on their doorstep’..."Decanter Magazine, October 2011 Edition
